At Malia Group, we continuously build on a viable policy to support a sustainable environment in all aspects of our business activities. In the pursuit of reducing our waste burden on the environment, our dedicated and expert team has developed a comprehensive internal code of conduct and production to protect the environment and reduce the impact of our activities on the planet, be it directly or indirectly.

Malia Group has partnered with Contra Intl’ – Zero Waste Act to fully equip premises with Recycling bins for waste management of paper, plastic, metal, and glass. Moreover, awareness programs and communications are disseminated throughout the year to inform our employees of their crucial role in the success of the environment ecosystem. We also encourage our employees to spread this culture amongst their family, friends, and within their community.

At Malia Group, minimizing our carbon, water, waste, and energy footprint is an essential component of our approach to sustainability. Our action plans include a clean-air, waste-management, energy and water-use reduction, and noise pollution reduction policies.

Our Pharmaline and Cosmaline manufacturing sites are certified ISO 14001 for Environmental Management Systems among other accolades.

Our key pledges to the environment include the following:

    1. Minimize releases into the airBy installing filters on all exhausts and where required; using butane propane instead of CFC in our use of aerosols; filling up generators with green diesel; and being a smoke-free area.

    1. Minimize waste generationBy enacting a recycling process, especially in our use of plastics; providing non-reusable and non-recyclable materials that are not used internally to waste contractors; materials are disposed of as per regulations set out by the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS); and donating products and materials three months prior to their expiration date. All material used as final products can be recycled; and are properly marked with the relevant recycling indicator to guide consumers on proper after-use recycling method.

    1. Minimize releases to the landBy collecting water waste discharges in a septic tanks that is monitored and treated with biodegradable products; and relying on computer documentation to avoid use of paper. Paper and recycling bins are placed across our premises, encouraging employee-based contributions in this regard.

    1. Reduce energy useBy turning off all machines and lights when not needed; designing making processes with less heat when possible; using air conditioner and heating systems at appropriate temperatures; using led lights; and implementing a strong preventive machines and equipment maintenance program to ensure energy efficiency.

    1. Reduce water consumptionBy collecting water used for cooling for reuse or irrigation; installation of timer for water consumption in lavatories in Malia Head Office and Malia Tower. Furthermore, as pertains to Cosmaline’s personal care products, we invite our customers to regularly consider minimizing their use of water when using our shampoos, conditioners, masks, balsams and shower creams and gels.

    1. Reduce noise pollutionBy assessing environmental impact of machines before purchasing; strengthening in-house maintenance for machines; and equipping generators with silencers.

    1. Ensure transparent reportingIn implementing ISO 14001:2015, we prepare yearly reports on our overall environmental performance, including on energy consumption, energy saving, conservation and efficiency improvements. Our reports also include monitoring and measurement activities; operational control; internal audit; and corrective-and preventive-measures. Reports and results are presented during the ISO Certification Body Audits regularly performed by Bureau Veritas at our manufacturing sites.

    1. Promote a natural work environmentProtection and restoration of natural environment through indoor and outdoor plantation programs. Moreover, visitors are requested to follow guidelines that ensure that the natural environment is fully respected.
